Privacy Policy
Last updated August 2026
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes the information practices of CallyList LLC ("we," "us," or "our") with respect to the Mote mobile application (also listed as "Folklore" internally) and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information. Mote does not require you to register or authenticate. There is no name, email address, or account identifier collected or stored by us at any point.
1.2 Task and Progress Data. Tasks, completion history, XP, levels, badges, and your app preferences (theme, energy pattern, notification settings, etc.) are stored locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to us or to any server we operate.
1.3 Health Data. With your explicit permission, Mote reads your daily step count from Apple Health to display your progress, and writes gym sessions you log in the App to Apple Health so they appear alongside your other health data. Health data is only ever read or written on your device via Apple's HealthKit framework and is never transmitted to us, stored on our servers, or shared with any third party.
1.4 Camera and Scanned List Data. If you use the scan-a-list feature, the App uses your camera to photograph a handwritten list. That image is processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition — it is never uploaded, stored after processing, or shared with us or any third party.
1.5 Location Data. With your permission, the App uses your approximate location solely to calculate local sunrise and sunset times, which drive the app's visual day/night atmosphere. Your location is used in memory for that calculation only — it is never stored or transmitted anywhere.
1.6 Backup Data. Task and progress data lives in the App's local storage, which iOS automatically includes in your standard device backup (Finder/iCloud device backup) if you have that enabled on your phone — the same as any other app's data. This happens through Apple's own backup system, not a service we operate. The App also lets you manually export a backup file and import it later or on another device, entirely under your control.
1.7 Notifications. Mote can send you optional local reminders ("nudges") about your tasks, scheduled entirely on your device. These are local notifications only — Mote does not register for Apple's remote/push notification service, so we never receive a push token or any way to contact your device directly, and we never send promotional or marketing notifications.
1.8 Purchase and Subscription Data. We receive and retain subscription status, entitlement identifiers, and transaction-related metadata sufficient to verify your subscription and facilitate purchase restoration. Payment card details are processed exclusively by Apple; we never see or store them.
1.9 Diagnostic and Usage Data. If you opt in to analytics (off by default), anonymized usage signals — such as which screens are opened or which features are used — are associated with a hashed, non-reversible device-level identifier and do not include your name, tasks, health data, location, or anything else you've entered into the App.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to operate the App on your device, process and verify your subscription, and — only if you opt in — understand how the App is used so we can fix problems and improve it. Task, health, camera, and location data described in Sections 1.2 through 1.5 are used exclusively on your device for the App's own functionality; we do not use them for any other purpose, and we do not have the technical ability to access them, since they are never transmitted to us.
Data Storage, Security, and International Transfers
Because the App has no account system and no server of our own, nearly all of your data — tasks, progress, health data, scanned images, and location — is stored exclusively on your device and is never transferred internationally or otherwise by us. The limited data that is shared with our service providers (subscription and entitlement records with RevenueCat, and anonymized usage signals with TelemetryDeck if you opt in) is transmitted securely and is not personal information tied to your identity.
Third-Party Service Providers
4.1 Apple. Apple provides the infrastructure for App Store purchases, HealthKit, on-device camera text recognition, and device backup.
4.2 RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes subscription status and entitlement details on our behalf for App Store transactions, in order to unlock paid features. It does not receive your health, task, or location data.
4.3 TelemetryDeck. If you opt in to analytics, TelemetryDeck receives anonymized usage signals associated with a hashed, non-reversible device identifier. TelemetryDeck does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any identifier that could track you across other apps or websites, so this does not require Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Data Retention
Task and progress data persists on your device until you delete the App or its data — we have no ability to access, retrieve, or delete it remotely, since we never receive it. Subscription and entitlement records are retained by RevenueCat for as long as needed to verify your subscription status and comply with legal obligations. If you opt into analytics, anonymized usage signals are retained by TelemetryDeck under their own retention practices.
Your Privacy Rights
You can turn off HealthKit, camera, or location access at any time in iOS Settings without losing access to the rest of the App. Analytics can be turned on or off at any time in Profile → Privacy, directly in the App. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any information we hold about you — which, given the App's local-only design, is limited to the subscription/entitlement records held by RevenueCat on our behalf, and anonymous usage data held by TelemetryDeck if you've opted in — by contacting us at support@callylist.com.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take prompt steps to delete it. If you have reason to believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@callylist.com and we will investigate and address the matter promptly.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes through the App.
